Spain and Portugal (Inland Portugal) 2023

Another new tour for 2023 takes you through Northern Spain (Picos Europa Mountains) entering Portugal from the North before travelling through the centre of Portugal visiting some of our favourite places. Then its back into Spain for something a little different at El Rocio! before finishing with a visit to the historical landmark of Seville!

 

We are really excited with what we have in-store for you during this trip of 30 nights and are sure you will enjoy this stunning tour. A mix of history, driving through stunning countryside, off the beaten track locations and some well known places.

Eat with us at local restaurants and try the chicken ‘frango’ a spicy Portuguese speciality.

We hope your enjoy the balance of this tour with some busy driving, unusual locations, exciting excursions all with some time to chill, relax and have fun!

This tour includes the Eurotunnel return tickets from Folkestone to  Calais or upgradable on certain Ferry routes.

Day 1 - 3

Avin

Arrive at Avin in the Picos Mountains – Welcome drinks 4pm at the campsite. Explore some of the Picos Mountains with us on a 2hr walk from the campsite followed by a traditional meal in the nearby town. An abundance of cycling from the campsite for those looking to see further afield. Welcome Drink & Group Meal Included

Day 3 - 6

245 miles

Santiago de Compostela

Travel to Santiago de Compostela (245 miles) which is a Unesco World Heritage Site and the destination of the ‘Camino de Santiago’ pilgrim route. Explore the Gothic Architecture and cobbled streets where allegedly the Biblical Apostle St James is buried.  Walking tour & Group Meal. Walking Tour & Group Meal Included

Day 6 - 9

50 miles

Noalla

Travel to Noalla (50 miles) to a campsite which is 1km from the La Lanzada beach or a smaller beach 250m away. Here we have a couple of days to relax & chill at the beach! Activities nearby are cycling, fishing, watersports, karting and mini golf. There shall be a ‘mini golf’ competition with prizes and drinks after.  Mini Golf Competition, Drinks & Group Meal Included

Day 9 - 12

Covas

Travel to Covas (75 miles) to a small family operated campsite which is our first stop in Portugal. This beautiful campsite is situated in rural inland Portugal amongst natural surroundings full of wildlife and natural beauty. The campsite is in a typical small Portuguese village. You will enjoy the Portuguese hospitality  and taste of traditional local food and homemade wine! You will be able to relax and chill on walks, cycling or swimming at this tranquil location. Day 12 - 15

Vila Real

Travel to Vila Real (110 miles) with a stunning drive through the Doura Valley with its river and vineyards. Vila Real sits on a headland and the old city is next to the River Corgo and Cabril. Here we have a fabulous Wine Tasting excursion to the 18th Century ‘Casa de Mateus’ winery, including a tour of the House and Garden before wine tasting. ‘Mateus’ Wine Tasting & Group Meal Included

Coimbra

Travel to Coimbra (112 miles) A charming preserved medieval old town and a real surprise. Famous for its ancient University, Coimbra boasts a lively atmosphere and plenty of attractions. Marvao

Travel to Marvao (107 miles) Relax at this amazingly beautiful campsite with peaceful and friendly scenery. Our stay is on a small scale rural estate (olive groves) in the middle of the beautiful nature park Serra de Sao Mamede in the Alto Alentejo. The campsite is a perfect starting point for low traffic hiking and biking in all its forms. Explore the many unspoiled (ancient) treasures and the very slow and relaxed lifestyle. Day 22 - 26

Evora

We travel to Evora (229 miles) another Unesco World Heritage Site which dates back 5000 years and is one of the most timeless cities in Portugal. It has a well preserved Roman Temple and a Macabre Bone Chapel. Walking Tour and Group Meal Included

Day 26 - 27

Castro Verde

We travel to Castro Verde (79 miles) a small town surrounded in beautiful countryside which was once an ancient hill fort. Here your have time to catch your breath and re-stock from the local town. Walk into town for a few drinks (2 drinks included)

Day 27 - 29

133 miles

El Rocio

We travel to El Rocio (133 miles) another favourite of ours! Its like stepping into the Wild West with is sandy streets and wooden rails for tethering horses used still by many locals! El Rocio is situated on the North West of the Parque National de Donana and on the marshland area of Marismas del Rocio. We will have Tour of the Donana National Park and a group meal in town. Day 29 - 31

Seville

We travel to Seville (55 miles) for our last stop on a Aire with the best access to the city. Seville is rich in history with stunning architecture and authentic culture. The Gothic Cathedral is the site of the Tomb of Christopher Columbus. Optional Flamenco Dancing Show, Walking Tour and Group Meal Included

A very interesting tour passing through the beautiful countryside of Spain and Portugal. We visited some of the 'must see' towns on our travels, where the guides tours included in the trip made us aware of their rich history and interesting facts. Giles and Linda were really good hosts, helpful and easy to get on with and made us fell welcome immediately. For us, as we are in our mid 70's and none too fit, there was rather a lot of walking involved on this tour to get to various venues. But that was probably our fault for not checking before we booked!

Here we are at Bonterra Resort Benicassim, almost into week 4 and having a brilliant time with something to do every day. The resort and surrounding area is very nice and our organisers and hosts Linda And Giles have been excellent organising and dealing with events in a very calm, friendly and professional way, nothing is too much trouble for them. In my opinion they are the perfect combination to run this type of motorhome tours. This is our first tour with them but the feedback and comments we have had of other tours we will look forward to booking another tour again soon. Thank you Linda and Giles for your advice, help and hard work to make this tour so enjoyable and memorable.

Our first time in a motorhome abroad. Motorhome tours made it so easy! Giles and Linda who run Motorhome tours are very organised, provided a great welcome and ensured our trip down to Spain went smoothly. The itinerary was excellent and the sites superb, making for a wonderful experience. It's been so good that we have booked for the next year's Christmas rally and the Tour of Italy. We can't recommend them enough!

Well where do I start? From beginning to end (and still ongoing) we have had a marvellous time on this Norwegian Adventure with Giles and Linda and the amazing group of fellow travellers ❤️We’d always wanted to do this sort of journey but were not that confident booking ourselves. Linda and Giles’s meticulous planning and organising meant we could just enjoy the breathtaking scenery and join in the events without all the worry. They are a great couple who made everyone feel welcome, you could join in with as much or as little of the trips they planned . And as for our fellow travellers ? Well we’re finding it difficult to say goodbye ….some of us have joined forces on the journey home …today from 20 we are 6 ☹️ And many of us have booked again for another trip next year…think that says it all❤️ So thank you both for making the last 5 weeks such a blast ? PS The girls say thankyou for all the treats and cuddles ??❤️
